Benthic Habitat Mapping
Between 2000 and 2002, the Center conducted single-beam acoustic survey transects at over 30 stations using the RoxAnn™ system. The focus of these surveys was the ecotone between the platform reef environment and surrounding soft bottom areas. The data resulting from this project will enable reserve managers to protect sensitive habitats and fishery resources through improved understanding of the benthic environment and its relationship with targeted species. The Center's role in this project included single-beam acoustic surveying, field data collection, and analysis.
