Southeast Region: Bogue Sound, North Carolina SAV Data Set 1992

This project was initiated by the Center in cooperation with the North Carolina Department of Natural Resources.

The geographic extent of the study area includes the estuarine waters from Beaufort Inlet in the north to Bogue Inlet in the south. The primary purpose of this project was to develop a baseline SAV data set to be used for change detection in the future. In addition, these data are being used by a variety of organizations including Elizabeth City State University, Albemarle and Pamlico Sounds National Estuarine Program, NMFS Habitat Conservation Division, and University of North Carolina – Marine Sciences Group.

The Center's role in this project included in-house data creation and field validation.
