Introduction to Stakeholder Participation
Some of the most challenging decisions in coastal conservation stem from the relationship between people and the environment. The Center provides technical assistance to coastal conservation professionals addressing complex human-based problems. The Introduction to Stakeholder Participation guide was developed to provide information about the use of social science tools and can be used to incorporate social issues into conservation efforts.

Literature Review for the West Coast Regional Needs Assessment
This report is an overview of the priority issues for the U.S. West Coast’s coastal resources management community based on existing literature, surveys, and needs assessments. The report is categorized into four thematic areas: 1) implementing coastal management and habitat conservation at the ecosystem level; 2) regional coastal and ocean planning; 3) resilience and adaptation to coastal changes resulting from climate change; and 4) data and information access and usability. Over 80 documents from Washington, Oregon, and California as well as national documents were reviewed. This document is intended to assist in the identification major needs and trends along the U.S. West Coast.

Needs Assessment of the New England Coastal Resource Management Community: Management of Ecosystems and Natural Hazards
This document focuses on needs in the Northeast region associated with ecosystem-based management, resilience to coastal hazards, and data and information access and usability. The assessment both confirms priority regional needs of the coastal resource management community and identifies new, emerging challenges. The Center is developing recommendations on how to better tailor services to meet these needs and outlining the services and expertise available from other NOAA programs.
