Town of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina

Brief Project Overview

Coastal managers and town planners from the Town of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, expect to apply C-CAP land cover data to enhance water quality in Broad Creek and address other water management issues affecting this main island waterway. Town officials expect to target areas without wetlands and areas of high intensity urban development for best management practices (BMPs) to reduce storm water runoff. In addition, they are looking for places where riparian buffers might be restored and are investigating whether new storm management systems might be needed.
