Case Study
Note: This is a fictitious case study involving a
non-profit organization with separate Web sites for different regional
chapters.
Background
Friends of the Watershed (FOTW) is a non-profit, non-governmental
organization (NGO) with chapters in many states. Like most organization
functions, the majority of publishing and Web design work is accomplished
by volunteers. Each chapter has a Web site but the sites are markedly
different in design. Several FOTW chapters have expressed frustration
that their sites look amateurish and that updating them is difficult.
FOTW has determined it would like to have a more unified and professional
Web presence. However the organization has no real expertise for determining
what is required. FOTW does have a good relationship with several state
agencies and decided to request help from their State Coastal Program
extension office (SCP).
